PROJECT NARRATIVE

Waterberg TVET College: Modernizing Educational Infrastructure

Contract WTVETC/202507 | Mokopane Campus

The refurbishment and conversion of the College House for Waterberg TVET College represents a strategic investment in vocational education infrastructure. Executed by Sombhani Group of Companies / Sombs Holdings, this R 999 142.59 project is a 4-month rapid-execution contract focusing on comprehensive structural alterations, weatherproofing, and high-quality interior finishes.

Technical Scope of Works

  • Structural Updates: Alterations, earthworks, concrete, formwork & reinforcement.
  • Masonry & Weatherproofing: Masonry work, waterproofing, roof covering.
  • Interior Modernization: Carpentry, joinery, ceilings, partitions, ironmongery, metal work.
  • Finishes & Services: Plastering, tiling, paintwork, plumbing, drainage, glazing.

Early-Stage Execution & Operational Agility

With 25% of the project timeline elapsed, the site team has successfully completed all preliminary phases. Site clearing, VIP toilet connection, and security services are fully active. The early implementation of OH&S measures — signage, barricading with net covering, and PPE supply — underscores a commitment to safe operations ahead of the main construction push.

To mitigate the delayed arrival of the designated Site Agent (expected 9th March 2026), Project Manager Phakamani Chauke will directly oversee the site during the transition week of 2–6 March, ensuring uninterrupted progress.

Health & Safety Report

No challenges were encountered on site during this reporting period. Implemented safety measures include:

  • VIP toilet fully connected on site.
  • 24/7 security services deployed.
  • OH&S signs, sign boards, and net covering barricades in progress.
  • PPE supplied to all laborers.
  • Skip bin requested (awaiting final payment).
